When dust is suspended above, or settles on the surface of solar panels, it decreases the quantity and quality of solar irradiation reaching the solar cells. The dust blocks and refracts light from being able to reach the solar cell at a more favorable angle of incidence. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and many other studies, power loss can be as high as 25%, in some areas.
Traditional methods of dust control, such as watering programs and off-the-shelf palliative products, provide an inconsistent and unpredictable level of control. Much time and money is wasted, as a result of having to apply and re-apply water and product, while only addressing the symptoms and not the underlying issue. As soon as the earth dries out, dust appears again.
In addition, one of the most commonly used methods of dust control, Magnesium Chloride (MgCl2), has been found to be toxic to flora.
DustCom is all natural and non-toxic. It will help flora thrive in the treated area, and can be best described as a Biopolymer. It encapsulates the dust, retains and absorbs moisture, causing the dust to bond to each other and become heavier, keeping it close to the ground. DustCom penetrates the surface, forming a deep bond, making it even more difficult for the dust to rise.
DustCom will significantly reduce the amount of watering, while also reducing the amount of dust that is suspended above and settling on the solar panels, alleviating the power loss associated with that dust. Not only will it provide more power per unit, it will also reduce cleaning costs.
OTHER COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH TRADITIONAL DUST CONTROL.
DustCom provides:
DustCom is a cost-effective biopolymer, made from natural ingredients and used for dust suppression and road stabilization. It is an effective soil binder, while being environmentally friendly.
